Sherburne County ARES "Fox Hunt"

Released: Sunday, November 6, 2011 0900 hrs.
Subject: Fall Activity

On Saturday, November 19th, 2011, the Sherburne County ARES will hold a radio signal tracking exercise, also known as a "Fox Hunt". The exercise will start at approximately 10:00AM, at the Elk River Golf Course parking lot, on County Road 1. Following completion of the exercise, the participants are invited to attend a pot-luck meal/get-together.

During this exercise, we will be refining our abilities to locate amateur radio operators solely by tracing the origins of their radio transmissions. By participating in this exercise, we will learn more about radiowave propogation, advantages of using different types of antennas, and also familiarize ourselves with the roads within our county.
