Sherburne County ARES Annual SET

Released: Tuesday, September 1, 2009 1700 hrs.
Subject: Annual ARRL SET Exercise

On October 3 and 4, 2009, the Sherburne County ARES will hold its Annual SET exercise, starting at 1800 hrs Saturday. Sherburne County Emergency Management is being asked to participate in the exercise, and updates will be posted as soon as they are obtained.

During this exercise, we will be making contacts with other amateur radio operators around the world.  By participating in this exercise, we are testing how efficient our equipment is operating and how well we are able to operate under "field conditions".  If we had to operate during a disaster or emergency, we need to know how well our equipment will work, what antennas would be best for that specific scenario, how long we can operate on a specific power source, and how each other's radios operate.
